[sdiy] Passive Ring Mod

I've been playing with a simple ring mod design
(http://www.synthfool.com/ringmod.html). I'm having issues with getting a
clean sound with a normal line out level. I get decent result with
oscillators that put out 5V signal, but most of my gear is at normal line
out level, around 1V I think. I tried boosting the signal on input and
carrier with LM383 7W amps, probably a bit much but I had 'em lying around.
Seems like I'm overdriving the ring mod and it ain't sounding great. Plus if
the carrier is a hotter signal it drown out the input...

Anyone have a good idea for the right kind of buffering to get my inputs
happy?

thanks
