Hmmm... what model was your Thorens?  I remember having to tape coins
to the tonearms of old BSR turntables many years ago for scratched
records.

My Thorens TD-160 seems to track everything, including the most warped
records.  It's got an old Shure V15 series III cartridge with a new
Shure stylus, tracking at 1 gram.  The only problem is that it won't
play 78 RPM records.
