well actually...

in college I had an old Thorens turntable...  with a nickle epoxied to the tonearm
shell.  The operant term is "old"...  the tonearm was designed for a much heavier
cartridge.  The coin provided the necessary weight to counter-balance the normal
range of adjustment.

Of course a lot of people 'dissed' my turntable, thinking it was incapable of
tracking
properly...  I ran it at about 2.5gms which worked well for all the records that
were
flat...   ;^P
