this is already done by design.  The back of the part (which I didn't show
in the photos) is potted with the wires coming out of the center. SO the
switch is now isolated form the casing.  All I would have to do connect a
wire to the casing (the threads), somehow so It would stay.  If you noticed,
there's a bit of a gap when the nut ends before the top of the switch
begins.  There's a rubber isolating washer there that keeps the switch
isolated from the faceplate.

This could be interesting....

making the halo/LED effect sounds REALLY interesting
