bad lsider is a possibility, though then they'd both have to be bad.. and
they're alps, which is a pretty good brand. they feel good as well.
the sliders seem to be disabled when using the external cv/gate. none of my
other synths do that.. it's weird. the other solution i could think of is to
just tune the whole vco one octave lower.. do internal synth tuning pots go
that far? or is that usually a much smaller range?
