I'm aware that it's largely "feel" issue, but I thought that most everyone
avoided linear tapered pots for simple volume controls. (By simple, I mean
routing the actual audio signal directly through the pot, as opposed to
using the pot to control the voltage sent to a VCA, which could have a
non-linear response curve of its own.)
