This only works if you have curly patch cables. The curl slows down the 
electrons so they're more susceptible to heating effects, which in turn 
slow them down further, so envelopes take longer.

In the extreme case the temperature gets so high the electrons stop 
altogether, producing a unique thermally controlled sample and hold 
synthesizer.

I've heard it works with light as well, but you probably need more than a 
hair dryer for that.
