Hi Ryan,
I agree with James: you really don't want to thread the panels. Use pots and
jacks that are threaded and use the proper panel nuts to clamp them to the
panels. If you thread the panels, it's very difficult to control the
orientation of the pots and if you ever strip the threads on the panel (and
since panels are usually aluminum, that's fairly easy to do), you're screwed
(pun intended?). What you need to make is a 'clearance hole' which is just
slightly larger than the threaded bushing on the pot or jack you want to
mount.
