A friend of mine built a case out of an ikea module. He got the idea from

The biggest different is that he built two sound dampening tunnels with 
chassis fans inside that blows in/suck out air into the case. The computer 
is put inside without any of its own computer case sides.

It makes no noise at all, cost him $40, and he doesn't have to have the 
computer in another room.
