Ken,
Could you explain a little about neon sustain?
I can imagine using the bulb kind of like a switch:

(with a huge nasty thump at turn on/off I'm guessing)
Or is it biasing a tube? Or something else?
If they are DC, that kills my idea of listening
to them with a photo sensor.
Do you know if the leslie comes out as a unit?
