Yes, I have played with the eval board.  I'm not an analog expert (I'm a SW eng) so I can't make it "sing" like an expert could.  The pros and cons have been discussed at length before on sdiy.  This chip I evaluated works.  There is a big downside to having switched cap designs.  Be warned that there aren't the tons of building blocks you'd find in the digital FPGA counterparts but you really don't need them with these.

The design software is so-so.  You build your design using functions from a list of functional blocks that use various resources within chip.  Some are real hogs and others real lean.  The whole thing is an exercise in tradeoffs.  You can't have it all.  

If you've got money for the eval board, get it.  You will probably get something useful out of it.
