[sdiy] The sound of various Op-Amps

Thanks Andre,
I now have four of these 5532's which I recovered from an old ACOUSTIC
brand guitar head that I stripped last week. They are now destined to become
part of my synthesizer. They have been used by Craig Anderton and others
many times over the years. As I go forward I am collecting various Op-Amps
that have been recommended by people on this list, which will be used to
build modules for my synthesizer. Including the 741. I expect to uncover
some really interesting qualities.

What I got out of

  http://www.dself.dsl.pipex.com/ampins/webbop/opamp.htm

is that the 5532 is basically a high-end op-amp at a lowish price.
It's very comparable in performance to the OPA627, but costs
twenty times less. The only area where the OPA627 seems clearly
superior is slew rate (55 V/µs vs. 9 V/µs).

It draws thrice as much current as a TL07X/TL08X and has ten times
less distortion.

I've been kind of wondering why it gets so little use in analogue
synths.
