I've been searching and searching for the last 4 years and
couldn't find any cheaper unit...

BTW the SC02 / SSI263 is more interesting than the SC01
coz it features an input for external sound sources to be
processed by the internal filter bank... But it's impossible
to find...
I even contacted Artic a couple of times, asking for a few
spare units, but they didn't even answered my requests...
Looks like the chip isn't in production anymore and they
keep their stocks for use in their own products...

That's why I started to work on an emulation of that
chip : a VC filer bank, driven by a uC with data about
speech formants (and formant transitions) extracted from
samples with a phase vocoder... When it's done (if it's
ever finished) the thing should be a programable analog
singing machine...
