(self proclaimed expert mode on)

hmmm.... I remember seeing some low-noise preamp designs with paralleled
LM394 "supermatch pair" transistors... one that used three paralleled pair in
exactly the fashion you describe.

now fancy that... here's a company that makes VERY expensive transistors
suggesting that you parallel THREE pair to get lower noise. Hmmmm.... it
will work, but you have to decide if it suits your needs and budget. At the IC
level... paralleling and cross coupling transistors is indeed a valid way to
reduce
noise.

Kind of reminds you of the instructions on the can of pet food... follow their
recommendations
and your Toy Poodle needs THREE cans a day... Self serving ? You decide :^P

Anyway... half the fun of engineering is deciding about the trade off between
price and
performance... I have yet to try this discrete preamp input (maybe i'm too
poor, or just
too cheap, or just don't need one THAT good...) but the idea is actually sound.

fun, but you go at your own risk... If the angels are not there, they can't pull
you
out of a jam either :^P
