No idea who the guy was, but the clock was stuck at 2 minutes to 8. 
i.e. 19:58, the year the Workshop was founded:->)

I had the great pleasure of working at the Maida Vale Studios when 
worked at the BBC 20 years ago as a maintenance engineer. We 
used to have breakfast with the Radiophonic composers and I 
remember Dick Mills as being an especially really nice guy.
