3 probably not, but 4 - maybe.
I've seen 4 layer PCBs in 1987 in old computer equipment that has ended its life, I suspect it was maybe 5-7 years old already then, so yes, it's possible that they used multilayer PCBs in 83. OTOH I haven't seen it done in synths. I'm not even sure if early digital synths used 4-layer PCB and it was almost '90s.

Is there a chance that the problematic Kawai SX-210 I have uses a 3 layer PCB ? it's from '83.
