I like this idea (no surprise there). Digipots, moving sliders, switches
(relays?), etc. A computer making patch changes, tweaking knobs in
real-time, on a modular? And using MIDI to do so? Imagine...

Right. Use a certain ratio to make conversion easier, like 2:1. (OT: Funny
choice of words. A Certain Ratio were a late 70s band from Manchester. Might
still be around.)

Raise your hand if you *don't* want new, neat, low cost synth stuff. :-) At
the very least, it's a great way to make modulars programmable. No, wait --
that's "to make programmable modulars." This is really a call for a new
synth standard, which means there is a big question:
"Should we give up the idea of making current modulars programmable?"
