Agreed.  Right now I'm just checking to see how hard this is to do with a 
drawing program and a printer.

Understood. That's why I posted the demo page.  All you need is a pair of 
scissors and 5 minutes to see how it works.  Guess I should have made an 
animated presentation.

Right now I'm just thinking of gluing the small vernier scale onto the 
skirt of the knob.  A custom knob would be nice, but its vernier scale 
would have to match the panel scale properly.
