NOT!  Respectfully submitted, your comment contradicts itself.  If the SPLs
are equal from all speakers as they should be, there is no reason to put
them all anywhere outside of the listening area and if the bass speaker is
not as loud when you do, then obviously it's SPLs have been compromised.

If doing so improves response, you are meaning transient response I think
and what you are actually doing is using the room's architecture to your
benefit - but it will give you a false sense of security if anything you
author in that room is played in another.  It's as dangerous as using an EQ
for a bathtub curve!
