Hi Benjamin, Paul and Scott,

The real answer is "It depends." :-)

If your design calls for a mirror gain (Iin/Iout) of precisely one, then 
the answer is yes.

If you don't care about that (and possible temperature effects), then 
its not strictly necessary.
Often when you use linear current control you can get away without 
matching. (For example in
VCAs, where you wouldn't hear minor differences in amplitude anyway.)
