[sdiy] Simple Oscillator +Doppler Effect

I'm looking for the simplest, smallest oscillator to opererate around 250
Hz, with a fairly large amplitude, for a physics project on the Doppler
Effect (if sound catches up to itself, it will make a sonic boom; AND as a
sound moves closer or farther away from you the frequency changes)... SO 2
questions ...

1) Does anybody have a schematic for a cheap & easy (not alot of parts, and
NO COILS) LOUD oscillator?

2) Do you think the weight of the oscillator+speaker can be supported by a
Balanced cable, OR should the oscillator & the speaker be separate?
