[sdiy] Suitecase synth (asm-1): mechanical considerations?

Hi there,

I am considering a dual ASM-1 setup in one of those aluminium atache cases.

What im hoping to achieve is the pcbs in the base of the case, with all the
3.5mm jack sockets and the power source, and then all the controll pots
built into the lid of the case. I havent counted exactly, but two asm-1s
could add up to 60+ pots, so thats at least 120 wires that i need to carry
between the lid an the base.

What im after then is suggestions as to how to achieve this. Somthing that
ive considered is ribbon cables, plugged in to both the top and the bottom
with standard IDC style plugs / sockets. Im not sure as i forsee actually
unplugging these, but it would allow that, or replacement, if anythign did
start going wrong with them catching. Not ideal visualy (3x50pin cables)
but id feel pretty confident that itlld work at least.

No audio would be carried to the top half of the synth, so im right in
thinking that shielding wouldnt be necisary at all?

Am i stepping too far in this?

Any advice, even if its saying "dont bother" would be appreciated :)

Cheers, Julain
