Sorry Peter, I guess ASCIImatics don't make it on some readers.

Ok, I'll try to word it.  Each bit is differentiated to form
either a positive or negative pulse depending on which way
the bit transitions.  Two diodes are then used to grab the
resulting pulse, the negative pulses are summed at the
inverting input of the opamp, the positive pulses are summed
at the noninverting input.  The output of the opamp will
always be a positive pulse and is limited to Vdd using a
diode clamp.  This will only work if the bits are guaranteed
to transistion synchronously.
