[sdiy] Synare Drum Modifications or Schematics?

I have a few of those old Synare electronic drums laying around, and I
started playing around with them recently. In my opinion, the output level
should be hotter. I've also noticed that they distort, if you turn the
volume up too far.

Two of my drums are the Synare 4 model, and I have one of the Synare S3X
models as well. The Synare 4 has a 7805 regulator inside and all the
circuitry runs from a 5V supply. I'm not sure what sort of regulator might
be inside the Synare S3X, but supply rail I found on the circuit board had
about 7.72 volts on it.

(I can easily see the parts inside the model 4, but the S3X has the circuit
board mounted "upside down" compared to the other model. I would have to
remove the circuit board and turn it over to see the regulator, but the
board is mounted in such a way to make that awkward--so I haven't gotten
around to that yet.)

Does anyone have schematics for either of these Synare Drums?

I'm considering either modifying them to run from higher supply voltages,
or possibly building a "clone" of the Synares that does run from higher
voltages. The purpose would be to allow higher output levels, and hopefully
to avoid the clipping present in the current designs, when the volume is
turned up to maximum. I'm also looking forward to the possibility of using
lower noise components.

If anyone has either the schematics, or has done any modifications to the
Synare 4 or Synare S3X, please let me know. Any other comments are also
appreciated.

thanks,
Glen Berry
