Keyboard Magazine had a sound page with Le Caine demonstrating the Sackbut:

I made a cassette copy of this, and it's around here *somewhere*.  Really 
amazing sounds.  The best synthesized cello I ever heard.

Le Caine wrote an intertesting review (1955) of electronic music, which was 
published in the IRE Proceedings of April 1956.  This gives lots of details 
of the Sackbut, including circuitry.
