...and how does a "champ" run?

That phrase is a pet peeve of mine. It doesn't really say anything
specifically useful. For example, does a champion chess player necessarily
run that well? How about a champion pole sitter?

Just something a bit silly-but-true to think about...    :)

I used to have an irritating boss that used the "like a champ" phrase so
much that I became permanently "allergic" to hearing it. His usual
variation was "works like a champ". I wanted to tell him that statistically
speaking most "champs"  no longer work in the area that they once excelled
in. Many have even passed away since reaching their zenith in life. So,
"works like a champ" isn't necessarily such a good thing.   :)
