Welcome back Jim!
It probalbly feels like you left a cozy, but cramped, little cubby hole 
and moved into a mansion! (at least 'virtually' :-)
I had a similar 'death' on my Windows 98 box a couple of years ago - I 
then put in a bigger hard disk, more RAM, and installed Linux on that 
poor old PC and it runs like a champ now.
