No need for "true" USB controllers as you can do it with a standard AVR
(depending on your application); the described circuitry offers

- LowSpeed USB port (1.5MBit/s)
- standard serial port with changeable baud rate
- infrared (IrDA) port
- programmable 8-bit I/O
- 128 byte EEPROM

Windows users will especially like it since there's already a driver w/
documented API for it.
