I've listened to all the recordings so far, and all of them exhibit
distortion from clipping. I also noticed that jhaible used reverb on his
"dry" organ sample, and that Scott did not. I then started wondering what
sort of recording technique was used in both cases.

Did you fellows record with a microphone, or tap into the Hammond directly
for your recordings? I think we need to use the same approach for the best
comparison.

I don't have a Hammond "B3-style" organ here at home, but I do have some
Hammond vibrato scanners. I'll see what sort of scanner demo I can put
together, just for reference. I don't plan on using a microphone. I intend
to record directly from the equipment itself, to eliminate any differences
attributable to mics or speakers.

Oh, I wanted to say that the jhaible recordings were very interesting. I
think they are getting close to the traditional Hammond scanner sound.
