Forgive the offtopic, but I was hoping any hardware hackers among you could
advise offlist:
Something like 1 or 2 teaspoons/ 5 or 10 or more milliliters of water
[strawberry-flavored, so with a dash of citric acid/sucralose etc.] got
dribbled into an iMac's USB Pro Keyboard. I've been drying it out with
fan-forced air and even a bit with a blow dryer. Nearly 48 hours later it's
semi-functional but still has some dead keys (most if not all listed below).
Just wanted a reality check. Am I really waiting for water to dry, or was
something possibly blown by a resulting short?
The optical mouse has been working fine. The keyboard has worked
progressively better, but the following non-functioning keys represent a now
long-standing plateau:
--both Option keys
--both Apple keys
--the Return key
--the Enter key on the Number pad
--the Delete key
--the + = key (to the left of the Delete key)
--all the Cursor keys
On whether I should keep the fan running or expect to get another keyboard, I
welcome any info/experience/informed guesses. (As you may have gathered, I'm
not using the above computer/keyboard to write this post.)
Thanks for your time & assistance,
Kevin Seward
