Hello!

Thanks for all the advice!  I tested the clamping diode solution and it 
works!!

Here's a quick follow up question!  Does anyone know of a chip that contains 
a clamp diode network?  I was inspired by 
http://www.semiconwell.com/d_net/swdn001_8.htm , but I believe that it's 
surface mount, and I'm looking for it in a traditional package (like dip).
