[sdiy] blue copper-clad circuit boards?

Hi Seth,

The blue PCBs I've seen are that color because of the solder mask. Most
commercial boards use green solder mask, but you can get blue or even red.
Maybe green is most popular because it absorbs the light from the exposure
lamps better and results in sharper or faster images. Totally a guess on
that part. 

Doing a board with a solder mask is definitely not a DIY sort of thing, so
to get this effect you'll probably have to get your boards made by a
professional board shop. I guess it's possible, but I've never seen a PCB
where the board material itself was blue. Most times the PCB material is a
type of fiberglass (FR4) which is kind of a nondescript white / clear color.
