Of course. Don't be surprised if you discover some commercial manufacturers
who have also done this. A lot of "inventions" were the results of
accidental discoveries. I think that safety glass is one example, although
not considered by most to be Synth-DIY related--unless you regularly stand
behind safety glass when powering up new synth circuits for the first time.  :)
