I completley agree with the other responses...

Splicing tape is infinitely better than Scotch tape, packing tape or
duct tape.  

I don't know if Radio Shack still carries it, but they used to.  I'm
sure MarkerTek has it.  (You can order a pro-quality demagnetizer at
the same time!)
