Hello,
I got like 4 soldering irons sitting around that I can't get tips for or
they are difficult to get. So I finally broke down and got I new soldering
iron. I bought a WES50 about 6 months ago from Mouser. The first unit I
received from them the connector between the base and iron was bad. Sent it
back and got another one. I'm perfectly happy with the new unit seems to
work quite well. I solder with rosin core, no-clean and water soluble solder
adjusting the temp according to the solder. I've done some work on some
larger pieces where smaller irons couldn't handle without any issues.
I think that Weller has a cheaper temp controlled iron out also.
