[sdiy] CA3086 - was ARP Pots / Sequencer

Hi Jim,
Ah yes, it's all coming back to me. A while back, I made some 'big buys' (well,
big for me) of common chips I'd need. At the time, I couldn't remember which IC
had the spec'ed transistor pair - so I guessed 3086 when I clicked the order in.
50% chance of being wrong, and wrong I was. Should have stopped and checked a
spec sheet. And I believe the 3046 was the same price, if not a little cheaper.
Sigh.
But, as you say, it means it's not tested, not necessarily that it won't perform
to the spec. I figure where the transistor matching spec is critical, I can drop
in a 3046, then try a 3086 or two, and if there's no discernable difference, I
can use one of the many 3086's that I have instead of the 3046, of which I have
few.
That was interesting information about the CA3045, BTW!
Best Regards,
Scott
