-Replace all of the pots with the digitally-controlled (3-wire bus) equivalent.
-put the voice card module on a backplane with audio & control I/O on it.
-Add a "master module" with a central MIDI-to-control decoding microprocessor.
-Have a remote control surface that interfaces with the thing to give you
back the knobs & buttons.
A few of us kicked this around off-list some time ago, with voices something
like a hard-patched ASM1...we reached the point that the infrastructure to
make it do all we desired was going to be expensive & hard to build as a
hobby project. I'm pretty sure the ASM1 documents mention that Gene made
the thing because he wanted a building block for polysynths!
