:: If I were to build an ARP 2600 clone, do you think I could sell them?
Well, Phil at CMS is sorta doing that, but he's impossible to find. Phil
does build some absolutely beautiful gear, but this does you no good if
there's a three year wait and you can't get him to start off with, huh?
I'd actually be interested, but you'll need to make some small improvements
over the original first!
1. It needs two complete ADSR generators - kill that crappy AR gen!
2. Needs Sync on the Oscs
3. Would like to see both hi and lo pass filters...something with more balls
than the production Arp filter!
4. The speakers are cool, but hey, get rid of them and you've got room for
maybe a LFO or two and some other goodies.
I was never a big fan of the Arp filter for some reason. I eventually sold
my 2600 years ago (big mistake!) and think I got around $500 for it at the
time. Was in pretty good condition too. It was originally owned by the
University of Florida and there were a few mods done to it - mostly blinky
lights added here and there.
I got to work a lot on a 2500 system in college and really liked the 1047
Multimode filter (anybody got a schematic?!?!?! Puuuleeese?!?!?), plus had a
friend with a Blue meanie that freaking screamed (I gave thought to killing
him to get it!! Just kidding - sorta!), but once they changed the filter
design the later models sounded "wimpy" in my opinion!
Cheers,
