I got some inkjet printable aluminum sheets called
AlumaJet  (horizonsisg.com)

Its about $6 per 81/2 x 11 sheet. I fit two front panels
(3 x 9 ") on one sheet.

You print using photo quality settings, then spray with some
protective coating (I used lacquer).

Looks pretty good... I did aluminum letters on solid black
(like the old Aries modules I wanted to copy). It looks pretty
good, but has a tiny bit of printer 'lines' in it.

I recall someone used some method to dissolve the lines and
make a solid surface... I think it was for toner on a PCB artwork
film. If you remember what that was, let me know...
