Rex Probe lent me his copy of:
"Waveforms; A modern guide to nonsinusoidal waves and nonlinear processes"
By Homer B. Tilton
While most books shy away from discontinuous functions, this book charges
right in. Based on a synthesis of work by Balthasar Van der Pol and Olivier
Heaviside, it uses a technique called "relaxation analysis" to deal with
discontinuous and nonlinear functions. It also describes at least one new
design that would make an interesting module "the universal clipping
generator".
Mr. Tilton was vice president of Optical Electronics back when they made
modules for 3D vector synthesis on oscilloscopes. If anyone has datasheets
for the Optical Electronics modules, I'd like to get a copy for nostalgic
purposes.
The book is available for as little as $11 from Amazon Zshops. Also, he has
another book called "The 3D Oscilloscope" which I assume is about 3 and 4
dimensional graphics on oscilloscopes (hypercubes look cool when they
unfold, a real brain twister). Also available from Zshops for under $15.
