I can see how the case might not be real rigid when it is bolted together
(all flat 0.035" [0.9mm] panels, and I'm assuming no bent reinforcing
flanges). Maybe it could benefit from some additional angle braces inside.
As far as the inside dimensions, check the "H2" (internal height) and "D"
(depth) dimensions. Internal width is just under 17" (17" - two 0.035 panels
= 16.93). The 2U case looks to be 3.00"H x 9.75"D x 16.93"W inside. You
might be able to have something custom built for less, but only if you
bought 100 or so. Ask Cynthia (who is buying many, many Sixpac enclosures)
about the pleasures and pitfalls of quantity pricing for sheet metal
enclosures. ;)
