I have an Atmel AT91 starter kit sitting at home doing nothing, because of
this license issue...

This is 49MIPs
the DSP in the Chameleon runs at 100MIPs :-)
It also has pipelining and you can do two simultaneous memory moves at the
same time as most instructions so if you're clever with your code, you can
get more than 100MIPs performance from them..
