The Korg EXP2 has two 50k pots in series, one for adjustment and the 
actual pedal pot. The input goes straight into the pedal pot and the 
output is at its wiper (so you can adjust the lower volume with the 
second pot). There's a second output that has a more complicated wiring 
plus a 72k series resistor. THe Korg VP10 is very similar, but has 220k 
pots and a "mixer" for two inputs plus two parallel outputs.

If Novation has wired up their circuit anything like Waldorf, the 
return path also has a series resistor, so immediate damage should not 
be possible even with a short. In fact Waldorf expressedly specs the 
input as CV/Pedal.
