[sdiy] Ring Mod question

Hey all,
A while ago I ask about AC versus DC coupling on the
inputs of ring modulators. The answer was that DC
coupling on at least one input allows for the rimg mod
to function as a VCA.
But now I find this patch where signals and a CV are
routed to both inputs of a Paia 47xx series ring mod.
The CV comes from an ADSR. This confuses me. If the AC
and DC inputs are summed, then the ring mod will not
act as a VCA, because if the sum is non-xero, then
there will be an output. So a zero voltage on the CV
input does not mean a zero signal output.
Does anybody have a schematic for that old Paia ring
mod??
