Hi
A few years ago i had desgin a UPS for use with 3U CompactPCI systems to
allow planned shutdown of a processor during a power loss situation , it is
capable of 85Watts above 18V for 2 minutes .
and can be seen at http://www.tenta.com/
anyway i remind this as i remmber that the Horowitz/Hill book was a major
help for me to get in to Batterys and chargers which i did not aknow any
thing about before , finding the right Battery and charger to achieve that
was not easy but i defiantly find Horowitz/Hill as a good data source to
start from and to chose between deferent approach to the desgin .
but it is also 100% true that HH miss a more deep explanations and
mathematics on some part of the subject , but i think that the overall idea
of this book (IMHO) is to be used like a hand-book in design stage and not
as a perfect data source for all applications .
