I have such a old Vox wah at home (with one of those mystical
fasel-inductors). I did some measurements, and it's true that this inductor
saturates different if you reverse the polarity. My guess is that the
ferrite housing has some magnetism on it's own, but I don't know exactly.

Anyways, it doesn't sound that much different than a Vox using a normal
inductor.
