There is really quite a bit of literature on non-linear circuits.

Good books include the Analog Devices "Nonlinear Circuits Handbook" and J. 
I. Smith's "Modern Operational Circuit Design".

There are also many papers by groups developing non-linear dynamic / chaos 
applications.  I posted a link to M. Itoh's paper "Synthesis of Electronic 
Circuits for Simulating Nonlinear Dynamics"  a few months ago.  I can't 
find the link right now, but an internet search should turn it up quickly.
