This is an additive synth, and it is the most demanding synth plugin I have
seen yet. Look at the CPU requirements. Though it's actually possible to
run the synth on much less of a CPU, you won't get full polyphony and
multitimbral abilities. For example, I run it on an Athlon 1800+ XP, and I
sometimes have to drop the polyphony to 1 note, and restrict the number of
MIDI channels used to 1 also.
I think if you used all 16 MIDI channels, maxed out the polyphony, maxed
out the number of partials used on each channel, and used the most
complicated patches possible--then the recommended CPU would still be far
from enough.
It *is* a cool synth. I just wish I had more CPU power--a LOT more.
By the way, how expensive would this be to build in hardware? (DIY content
here)
