And there is even an abstraction layer which maps VST to LADSPA enabling
(x86) VST instruments to run on (x86) Linux.

Requires the k_vst~ plugin for Pure-Data for full support of vstlib and
VST instruments, though, which isn't mentioned in the vstserver docs. And
of course an installation of WINE to map other windows-specific calls
(which is mentioned in the vstserver docs, though).

Rumor has it that this setup shows even less latency than running VST on
native Windows.
