Hi Paul .
You would miss good timing , modulation capability , and much much more .
analog sequencers are like any other module in a modular system  , they can
modulate and/or be modulated .
real analog sequencer are much different in there use and performance then
digital sequencer that are built to look like and imitate analog sequencer
.
the idea of a modular system is modulation , same thing for analog
sequencers , they are used in the same manner ,  perform complex CV and Gate
patterns by modulating sequencers one against the other , or by modulating a
sequencer from logic modules like clock dividers , logic gate etc .
check out the TM-116 Step Select Input (SSI)  as a power full example of
modulation inputs on a analog sequencer  :
